Welcome to the Pre-school “Big” room

For our children aged 3-5

I’m a smooth talking, agile, and observant seeker of adventure. I’m kind of a know-it-all... as in I want to know it all. I have more questions in me than you have answers. I’m perceptive enough to sense this can frustrate you, but please don’t discount my inquisitiveness. (Challenge me)
— I am four

The pre-school room is a fully air conditioned room that accommodates children aged around 3 to 5 years. In this room the nursery practitioners introduce the children to a more structured approach to learning through play.

Nursery Education is provided and the practitioners plan educational programmes which include activities that encourage all children to become active, inquisitive and independent learners and reflect the children at the time. During the pre-school phase, children are encouraged to develop skills prepare them well for their transition to school.

Play is a key opportunity for children to think creatively and flexibly, solve problems and link ideas. In the pre-school room, our staff establish the enabling conditions for rich play: space, time, flexible resources, choice, control, warm and supportive relationships. As our three to four year olds reach the final years before starting school, they are more able to recognise and predict routines, making connections in their experiences, and Playtime encourages them through this.

During the term of a child's third birthday they will become eligible for Nursery Education Grant Funding which is available here at Playtime. This allows them to benefit from the best education we can provide them as often as possible, while being incredibly and accessible to parents and caregivers.
